Diverse per molti aspetti, in comune avevano il desiderio di affermazione, il bisogno di spaziare, il sogno della conquista.

La più grande, Zoe, decise un giorno di lasciare il paese natale per una grande città; indecisa tra il nord e il sud lasciò al destino la scelta. Le stelle più famose del firmamento americano furono le ambasciatrici del nuovo messaggio italiano nel mondo, le prime a subirne il fascino e a diffonderlo. Primo fra gli abiti delle Sorelle Fontana a portare fama e lustro oltre oceano, fu l'abito creato per Linda Christian, che sposò Tyrone Power nella basilica di Santa Francesca Romana. Da quell'etereo abito bianco, nacque una sorta di frenesia tra le fidanzate d'America a desiderare le Sorelle Fontana come pronube; come Margaret Truman, figlia del Presidente degli Stati Uniti Harry S. Truman.

L'Alta Moda italiana si impose così su quella locale americana e su quella francese. A questi primi successi ne seguirono molti altri, le Sorelle Fontana intrecciarono la loro opera con famose industrie italiane, si legarono al teatro ed al cinema, alla finanza ed alla politica, senza mai dimenticare la provenienza artigianale della loro arte e la profusione di cultura che la distinse sempre.
